Standard #8: Instructional Strategies
Part of teaching in world of today is collating traditional direct instructional strategies with more varied, engaging methods of delivery which are more accessible to students in today's classrooms. I am of the firm belief that the best teaching is the most engaging teaching - and as such I have worked diligently to produce a body of educational work capable of engaging students both inside and outside the classroom.
Here is a playlist of demo mini-lessons taught primarily through direct instruction, with teacher modeling and student participation. It is my goal throughout all of my teaching work, especially work done in a more traditional classroom setting, to keep lessons as engaging as possible and exhibit positive energy at all points of the learning process. Lesson plans accompanying these very mini-lessons can be found on this page!
In contrast to this above classroom setting, I have produced a body of educational resources through social media that has reached a successful following explaining basic musical concepts through a more "edu-tainment" lens. These two series are titled "Music Under the Table" and "Epic Smackdown," and serve to make these entry-level musical and technical concepts more accessible to students by presenting the material in their own "home court" (so to speak), short-form entertainment platforms.
